In the Year 1900 - 1950

1909 - The demise of “Pazhaya Soru” Paramasivam Pillai who was the embodiment of empathy to other living beings.

1912 - The birth of Annadhana Samajam on 02.02.1912

1917- Annadhana samajam was registered as a ?society at Tiruchirappalli on 20.01.1917

1922- Start of handful of rice and hundi schemes on 01.04.1922

1932- The land on which Annadhana Samajam is currently functioning was given free of cost by Tiruchirappalli Municipality due to the efforts of Mr. T.M. Narayanasamy Pillai, Mr.M.A.Chandrasekaran Pillai and Mr.T.S. Swaminatha Iyer.

1935- A portion of the building was completed through the generous contributions of Mr. V. Kalyanasundaram Pillai, other donors and the savings of the Samajam. The efforts of Mr. Lingam Iyer and Mr. Srinivasa Naidu towards the construction are noteworthy.

1942- The surrounding compound wall and kitchen were completed through the efforts of Mr.N.P.Kalyanasundara Mudaliyar, Mr.T.M.Narayanasamy Pillai and Mr.M.Subramaniya Pillai.

1943- The Samajam was gifted a house at Rockfort Arasamaram street by Mrs.Amirthammal through a will on 20.08.1943

1944- The Samajam was gifted 1.5 acres of wetland by Mr. T. V. Somasundaram Pillai on 27.09.1944 at Marudandakuruchi village in Trichy District.

1946- The Samajam was gifted 4.5 acres of wetland by Mr. Kalyanasundaram Pillai on 12.12.1946 at Adhikudi village inLalgudi Tk of Trichy District and 4 acres on 14.08.1948 totalling 8.5 acres.

In the Year 1950 - 1980

1954 - The ground floor of the building was completed and the new building was inaugurated on 17.01.1954

1959 - A hall was built in the first floor.

1961 - The golden Jubilee of Annadhana Samajam was celebrated during 1961-62

1967 - An electric motor was installed to pump water from the well. The kitchen was further expanded and renovated during 1967-68

1969 - An overhead tank was built in 1969-70

1973 - The thatched roof ing in the first floor was replaced by asbestos roofing in 1973-74

1976 - Internal renovation was carried out to make the hall well lit and ventilated in 1976-77

1977 - The kitchen was made pucca with concrete, chimneys were constructed and piping were laid in the first floor in 1977-78

1979 - The ground floor was extended in the front up to the compound wall in 1979-80

In the Year 1980 - 2000

1989 - Muthamizh kavalar KAP. Viswanathan was honoured and felicitated by the samajam on his 90th birthday in 1989-90
The samajam contributed Rs.2000/- towards the Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s Armenian Earthquake Relief.
The Platinum Jubilee of the Samajam was celebrated.

1992 - As a crowning achievement of the activities of the samajam, the inauguration of the old age home was done at the Gunaselam choultry of Mr.V.C.Rangarajan’s family in 1992-93

1993 - The old age home was named as Dr.G.Chitrambalam Amsavalli old age home in 1993-94
Mrs. Usha Karunanidhi donated 65 cents of land towards setting up the old age home.

1994 - The construction f the old age home was started at an expense of Rs.4,30,000 in 1994-95
Free marriage for the poor was started through the samajam in 1994-95

1997-1998 - Rooms were constructed at Dr.G.Chitrambalam Amsavalli old age home through the contribution of Rs. 1,50,000 by Mrs.Chandrika and Dr. Shantharam from the United States.

1998-1999 - 15 individual rooms with all facilities were built in the first floor of the old age home.

1999 - Shri. Annamalai Chettiar of Thillainagar contributed Rs. 50,000. A room was constructed in the old age home and a plaque was kept.

1999-2000 - Through the efforts of Mr. L.R. Nagarajan of State Bank of India, a sum of Rs 50,000 was contributed from its CSR funds to the Samajam, the cheque for the amount was handed over by the then Collector Mr. V. Moorthy to our President Dr. V. Kanagaraj and the activities of the Samajam were greatly appreciated.

In the Year 2000 - 2011

2000-2001 - A sum of Rs.10,000 was handed over to the Gujarat Earthquake Relief Fund by our office bearers to the District Collector.

2006-2007 - A sum of Rs.6,00,000 was donated by Mrs.Sowmithri Sundaram using which the first floor of the Samajam Building was renovated at a cost of Rs. 11,00,000 and the hall was named as Sundaram Auditorium.

2010-2011 - A Pillayar temple was constructed in front and the kumbabishekam was conducted on 23.02.2011 based on popular demand from the users of the auditoriums in the Samajam.
Renovations were carried out at the entrance to accommodate more people during functions. The office room was enlarged to make it more user friendly.
A sum of Rs.4,05,458 was spent towards all the above expenses. The works were executed by Mr. K. Kumaravel, B.Sc
